Search a Greece Street by Address
Start with the exact Greece situs address, including the street suffix and direction when one appears. Monroe County property records, GRIMS mapping, and the County Clerk each identify a different part of the same place. The assessment roll establishes the parcel and current owner of record. The deed index supplies the recorded transfer trail. A voter lookup may confirm one eligible voter at a supplied address, while the Rochester Public Library street sections preserve older snapshots. This Greece street directory sequence avoids treating one record as proof of every person connected to an address.
- Enter the address in the Monroe County property route and record the property location, owner name, tax-map parcel, and any deed reference.
- Open the Greece GIS or GRIMS map to compare the parcel with the road, address point, nearby parcels, and municipal boundary.
- Read the assessment entry as an ownership and tax record. Keep its mailing field separate from the physical situs.
- Use the owner and deed book, page, or document reference in the County Clerk record trail to identify the prior seller.
- For a one-person civic confirmation, use the official voter lookup with the permitted fields. For historical occupants, use the House and Street section in the directory run.
That order matters. An address leads to a parcel, a parcel leads to the official assessment entry, and the recorded instrument supplies the ownership history. A name alone is a weaker key when several people share it.

The Town of Greece Assessor links residents to the county assessment route and final roll. Greece reports about 34,500 property records, roughly 25,000 exemptions in more than 200 variations, and approximately 10,000 annual mailings. Its work includes ownership and deed inventory, sales and RP-5217 information, maps, photographs, structure specifications, and review connected with permits, zoning, and planning. The dates named by the Town are March 1 for taxable status and July 1 for valuation under RPTL §301.
The assessor interface was not fully inspectable during research, so the field schema below states the documented search and result fields without claiming a current button layout. Search an owner name, a property location, a tax-map parcel, or ZIP when the county tool exposes that narrowing method. The official roll is a useful fallback when the live screen is unavailable.
| Field | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Owner name | text | optional | owner-name search supported; try surname and initials/variants |
| Property location | text/address | optional | search situs address; street spelling and directional suffix matter |
| Parcel/tax map number | text | optional | Greece roll example 060.73-2-6; SWIS 262800 |
| ZIP | text or dropdown | optional | exact current UI not viewable; use for ZIP-wide narrowing if exposed |
| Assessment/roll year | year/link | optional | 2025 final roll verified; 2026 final link on Assessor page |
| Property class | code/dropdown | optional | sample class 210, one-family residential; full dropdown not located |
| Exemption | code/result | no | exemption codes/amounts in result, not a household roster |
Note: A property search can locate the parcel, but the roll does not identify every person who may be present there.
Separate Greece Situs and Tax Mail
One of the most important Greece street-directory distinctions is between the parcel’s situs and the owner’s tax-mailing address. The 2025 final assessment roll sample for parcel 060.73-2-6 lists 232 Almay Road as the property location and a different Rochester mailing address for the current owner. That is normal. A mailing field tells the assessor where tax correspondence goes. It does not establish that the owner lives at the parcel, and it should not be used to make an occupancy claim.
The 2025 Greece final assessment roll also shows why the parcel number is useful. It can carry an account number, grid coordinates, property class, school district, lot or subdivision description, frontage, depth, values, districts, prior owner, and deed book/page. Those fields tie an address to the right piece of land even when a street name changes or a mailing label says Rochester.
- Parcel
- A defined piece of land in the assessment and tax-map system, identified by a tax-map number rather than only a street number.
- Situs address
- The physical location of the parcel. It is distinct from the postal address used for tax mail.
- Plat
- A recorded map or subdivision plan that can show lots, roads, and boundaries used with a legal description.
- Criss-cross directory
- A reverse address listing, called a House and Street section in the Greece suburban directories, that arranges entries by street and number.
Browse Greece Streets in GRIMS
The Town GIS route and the GRIMS MapServer let a Greece street directory search move from a typed address to map context. GRIMS exposes road names, municipal boundaries, points of interest, parcels, addresses, town easements, DPW zones, and zoning. Parcels and addresses help compare nearby polygons; road and boundary layers prevent a postal label from being mistaken for Town jurisdiction. The zoning layer is context only, not evidence of who occupies a parcel.
Use the map to pan, zoom, and click through adjoining parcels. Then transfer the parcel identifier to the official property route. Town GIS states that its map data are informational, carry no accuracy guarantee, and yield to official Town maps and records. That disclaimer is a reason to confirm a boundary, address, or legal description in the custodian record before relying on it.
Monroe County Real Property Services is the official source route behind this Greece street directory parcel work.
The property route is the bridge from a mapped Greece address to assessment and tax-map information, rather than a roster of people on a street.
Greece Street Records by Address
Several Greece offices keep address-keyed material, but each source answers a narrow question. The parcel number is the stable bridge between assessment information, a recorded deed, and a defined request to a department. The street name is useful for searching, yet the legal description or tax-map number is the stronger way to keep older instruments connected to the same land.
| Address-keyed record | Custodian | Street result | Access channel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assessment roll and tax map | Town Assessor / Monroe County Real Property Services | owner of record, situs, mailing field, parcel, values, districts, deed reference | county property route, annual roll, or office |
| Parcel and GIS layers | Town GIS / GRIMS and County GIS | parcel geometry, roads, addresses, boundaries, zoning, and nearby parcels | public map, REST layers, and official map records |
| Recorded documents | Monroe County Clerk | deeds, mortgages, liens, parties, dates, and legal descriptions | SearchIQS modern index, office terminal, grantor/grantee books, and microfilm |
| Voter registration lookup | Monroe County Board of Elections | confirmation of one registered voter/address combination | official lookup, subject to Election Law controls |
| Permit or code file | Greece Building Department / Code Compliance | defined project, permit, inspection, or notice information when releasable | department request or FOIL, not a live public history portal |
| House and Street section | Rochester Public Library | historical occupants, owner mark, post-office label, and nearby entries | digitized PDFs for 1930-1940 and Local History volumes |
For a history of who lived at one address rather than current parcel work, the Greece past residents trail uses the same sources in backward order.
Follow a Greece Street Deed Chain
The Monroe County Clerk Records Division records and indexes deeds, mortgages, assignments, satisfactions, judgments, liens, and related instruments. After an assessment search identifies a current owner and deed reference, search for the recorded purchase. The seller on that instrument is the grantor. Search that seller as a grantee to find the earlier purchase, then repeat the sequence. The legal description, municipality, tax-map number, and prior book/page are safer matching keys than a surname alone.
Recorded documents can contain the instrument date, party names and addresses, legal description, new tax number, return-address or attorney box, signatures, notary, TP-584, RP-5217, and prior references. They are recorded-land documents, not a directory of every person at the address. Use them to establish transfers and land identity, then treat any directory or voter result as a separate type of evidence.
Use Greece Deed Index and Microfilm
Modern Monroe recorded-document work generally begins after 1975 through SearchIQS. The research could verify guest, account, login, and subscription entry points, but not a full public field list because the live portal was protected. Confirm current filters, export behavior, and image conditions at the official route or a public terminal. The County’s historical guide draws a firm practical distinction: pre-1975 deed work moves to grantor/grantee index books, liber/page references, and microfilm.
At the Clerk’s downtown office, 39 W. Main Street, Rochester, the historical method is to locate a known liber and page on the corresponding microfilm reel. If the reference is unknown, search the grantor/grantee index by year and the first letter of the grantee surname, record the liber/page, and then retrieve the image. Public terminals provide index and image access without charge according to the County’s subscription information; home image access can have account or subscription conditions.
The Monroe County Clerk access page explains the official route for Greece street directory deed research.
Older instruments remain an in-office, liber-and-microfilm task even when a newer Greece deed index entry is easy to find online.
Note: The record index can be searched freely, but digital originals and office access are not the same access channel.
Confirm One Greece Voter by Address
Monroe County Voter Information accepts Street #, Street Name from an autocomplete choice, ZIP, Last Name, and Date of Birth. It is useful only to confirm a supplied, eligible voter and address combination. It is not an open command to display every voter on a block or street. A missed result can reflect spelling, an address change, maintenance, or protected status. It does not prove that someone is not part of a community.
Election Law §3-220 permits supervised public access while protecting driver-license and non-driver-ID numbers, Social Security numbers, facsimile phone numbers, signatures, and protected-voter details. A full voter-file request follows Election Law §3-103(5) and must state an elections purpose. Keep the street-directory task limited to a one-person confirmation and never publish a block roster or a full date of birth.
Request Greece Street Permit Files
Building and code files can explain a construction change, an inspection, or an address-specific notice, but Greece did not have a publicly searchable permit-history portal in the sources reviewed. The Greece Building Department, 585-723-2443, and Code Compliance, 585-723-2354, are the documented request points. Give the street address, tax-map parcel, approximate date, permit type, applicant or owner name, inspection number, or file number when known. A defined request is far more likely to identify an existing file than a broad request for research.
For releasable executive-agency records not posted online, use the New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, §§84-90. FOIL requests existing records; they do not require an office to create a list or perform open-ended research. Courts are different: court files are governed by Judiciary Law §255, not FOIL.
Read Greece Street Directory History
For an earlier Greece address, the Rochester Public Library’s suburban directories have a House and Street section that functions as the local reverse-directory layer. The digitized Greece run covers 1930 through 1940. Open the street alphabetically or numerically, record the address, household entry, owner symbol, post-office label, and neighboring entries, then check the alphabetical section for a spouse, initial, or occupation. It is a dated occupant snapshot, not current proof and not a deed.
The Rochester Public Library suburban-directory collection holds original bound volumes beginning in 1930. Searchable PDFs support the digitized years. Historical address labels may say Rochester, North Greece, Hilton, or rural delivery, so compare the parcel, intersections, and legal description rather than assuming a postal label proves present Town geography.
Watch Greece Parcel Recordings
On March 30, 2026, the Monroe County Clerk announced a change effective April 1, 2026: standard recorded-document indexes, including party names and property addresses, remain free to search and review, while digital original documents move behind a subscription. The announcement also introduced a free Fraud Alert registration for names or properties, which sends an alert when a recording or filing is accepted.
The Clerk’s April 2026 notice is the source for that division between free index review and subscription image access. An alert is a prompt to inspect a recording and contact the custodian or appropriate authorities if something is wrong; it is not proof that a filing is fraudulent.
Respect Greece Street Directory Limits
A Greece street directory cannot establish every occupant. Nonowners, children, visitors, and people who recently moved are not assessment-roll fields. DMV address information is restricted, and utility or delivery customer lists are not public street sources. An assessment mailing address does not prove residence. Protected Address Confidentiality Program participants may use a substitute address, and protected voter data must remain protected. Treat a property record, voter result, and historical directory as limited records with different dates and purposes.
Lawful use. Greece street and address records are for lawful personal, historical, civic, or property research. New York Penal Law §§120.45 and 240.30 make stalking and certain harassing conduct unlawful; do not use an address trail to track, intimidate, or contact someone who does not want contact.
Note: Verify a disputed parcel, boundary, or recorded instrument with the office that holds the original record.
